This afternoon I decided to take my profit off the table in BOBS.OB at a price of $5.35. I had been doing a bit of research regarding Brazilian beef prices, and although I could not find specific information regarding to prices, what I was able to find made me worry about BOBS possibly showing a decline in margins due to higher beef prices for the December quarter. Given the especially difficult comparison which they are up against for December 2005, […]

Today was a very solid day for the general markets. The market rallied strongly on the heels of Bernanke’s comments that inflation was in check, with the Dow surging to an all-time high and the Nasdaq closing up 1.2% to within striking distance of its all time high. I think that the stock market has found a comfort zone with Bernanke’s comments, and we should see the rally continue. As I said earlier, I am still in […]

Today was a solid but by no means overwhelming day for the general market. I would caution investors that the Dow and S&P gains are a bit inflated by the huge move in Alcoa today, so the general sentiment was only mildly bullish even though the Dow and S&P shot up more than 0.7 percent. I don’t think we are out of the range bound syndrome quite yet.

As for my portfolio, another great day. OPBL just continues to incredible strength. […]

Obviously, today was an outstanding day for my portfolio. In fact, the recent performance of my picks has been pretty amazing, and has exceeded even my high expectations. So at this point, it is probably best to take a quick moment to remind everyone that the stock market is not always as kind as it has been in the past four weeks. While I have every intention of continuing to outperform the market, even I recognize that the 20% gain […]

It’s days like today that make the stock market fun. Despite the rather dull trade on the big board, today was full of interesting stories on the bulletin board. If you’re reading the blog for the first time today, I would especially highlight my profile for SCOM.OB this morning. There’s a decent amount of info there to get you started. I want to touch on a number of different stocks, so I’ll run down the list quickly.

OPBL.OB–Despite the recent price […]

This morning I decided to sell my small holding of DYSL.OB and add more shares of BOBS.OB. I have taken a small loss in DYSL.OB. In percentage terms, the loss was approximately 11 percent, although my allocation in this stock was rather small to begin with.

Although I remain positive on the stock long term, I decided to sell the stock for two reasons. First, I thought it lacked a catalyst over the next few weeks, and therefore it is likely […]

The next few weeks have the potential to be big weeks for Brazil Fast Foods Corp. They should be out with Q4 numbers in mid-February, and like many bulletin board stocks, this stock has a history of being a data point stock. If 2006 was the year when BOBS.OB became a viable speculative investment, 2007 may well be the year that BOBS signals that it has turned the corner and has arrived in the world of stable growth.

I will be […]

McDonald’s didn’t say much about its Latin America operations in the conference call, but there were a few things worth noting.

1) McDonald’s plans on opening 800 new stores, but according to the conference call, virtually all of them will be in Asia, Europe, and the U.S (ie at least 775 of them). This could be read two ways–either McDonald’s doesn’t see growth in Latin America, or that McDonald’s is having problems in Latin America. I read this as the latter, […]

I just want to draw people’s attention to the McDonald’s conference call that will be starting at 10.30am this morning. Anyone currently invested in BOBS.OB or thinking about investing there should be listening to this call, as McDonald’s is BOBS’ main competitor in Brazil. I will be listening to the call and providing my own impressions afterward.

Specifically, I am going to be paying attention to McDonald’s comments with regards to Latin America, as Brazil is McD’s largest market in Latin […]

Just to update my positions, yesterday I was able to get my limit order filled to add to my position in BOBS.OB at 4.65. As the stock had been holding up quite well, I was forced to move up my buy price a bit in order to get back into the stock, but I believe that its tight trading through the small selloff we’ve had bodes well for the stock in the near term.
