Lightening up CAGC

January 17, 2008 | Leave a Comment

In my effort to further reduce long exposure, I decided to cut the size of my position in CAGC by about 30% by selling the stock at $2.48. From a valuation standpoint I obviously like the stock and continue to hold a position, but this is a very treacherous market and I don’t see much incentive to be putting on large positions in anything.

Sold 10% of CAGC

This afternoon I sold 10% of my stake in CAGC at a price of $2.95. With bulletin board stocks, I tend to use limit sell orders to take incremental profits, which helps me lock in profits without presenting liquidity problems in exiting my position. My position in CAGC is now fairly large, and while I continue to think this thing is massively undervalued, I had a limit sell in on the stock in order to help scale back […]

This morning I decided to cover MBI at $13.95 and decided increase my position in CAGC by 50% at $2.40. With regard to MBI, the news of Countrywide being bought and the rumors of WM getting taken out is probably going to lead to a short squeeze over the next few days from what is a very oversold condition. With regard to CAGC, the stock has shown that it is pretty much done going down, and I still […]

Added to CAGC

This afternoon I decided to add to my position in CAGC by roughly 40% at $2.30. The stock showed signs of wanting to move higher in late January, but the recent market selloff has pushed the stock right back down to its previous lows. I continue to be bullish on the fundamentals here, and I think we’ve gotten to the point where we have probably exhausted most of the sellers. If the stock manages to catch […]

Today I decided to jump in on the long side in a number of names. I’m just going to cut to the chase and go down my list of buys.

AVAV at 23.42 because the company continues to get military orders and is ramping up its green energy segments

CEUA at 4.71 because upcoming investor conference might finally put this on the radar

CAGC at 2.88 because China needs non-chemical fertilizer and the stock is dirt cheap

CNEH at 2.20 because it is […]

Today’s market is just plain ugly, and I am beginning to have serious worries about the economy flipping into a recession. In fact, the more I listen to companies guidance (CAT, UNP, etc). In fact, I am willing to bet that the U.S. is already slipping into recession, but we have yet to actually see it in the numbers. The way that both the stock and bond market have acted in the last few sessions is telling […]

This afternoon I took the opportunity increase my position in CAGC.OB at $4.45, upping the position five-fold in the process. Frankly, I view this price as an absolute gift, with the company having earned $0.24 in the first half of 2007 despite a difficult first half due to weather related problems. I’ll write up some thoughts on China Agritech shortly, but suffice to say, this was a very cheap valuation for a stock with strong growth and the […]

This morning I decided to take a bit more profit in CPHI.OB at $3.40 in order to diversify my portfolio. Given the high weighting of CPHI.OB in the portfolio and its strength in today’s trade, I decided to take advantage of today’s dip to rotate about 20% of my position into CAGC.OB at $5 and EGMI.OB at $0.70. I continue to like all of these stocks going forward, and I’m happy to use the dip today to establish […]
